Greg Wasserman
Mr. Wasserman specializes in transaction real estate law and has over 18 years of business and
legal experience in the real estate industry. He has been the lead counsel in structuring,
negotiating, documenting and closing several billion dollars in complex real estate transactions
nationwide, including acquisition, disposition, development, financing and joint venture
transactions. Mr. Wasserman also has significant experience with construction and consulting
agreements, entity formation and representation, leasing, and general business transactions.
Mr. Wasserman has represented institutional owners and investors, investment management
and pension fund advisors, major developers, family offices and private investors,
entrepreneurial investors and small businesses. He has developed a particular expertise in the
land and residential sectors, including land acquisition and development; land division and
entitlement; environmentally impaired land; condominium development and conversion;
apartment acquisition, disposition and development; single-family subdivision development and
sale-out; lot option financing; land banking; land and residential development joint ventures;
and working out and restructuring troubled projects and distressed investments.
Mr. Wasserman’s professional experience includes serving as the Assistant General Counsel, Vice
President and Director of Infill Acquisitions and Development for Hearthstone, Inc., a CALPERS
sponsored residential investment advisor focused on the land and residential sectors. While at
Hearthstone Mr. Wasserman also served as primary legal counsel and strategic advisor on
business and operational matters to Silverstone Communities, a Hearthstone affiliated
residential development firm that had 6 offices across the country. Mr. Wasserman’s private
practice experience includes the representation of owners, operators, investors and developers
of multi-family residential projects in their acquisition, disposition, development and financing
activities, and the representation of landlords and tenants in office, retail, light industrial and
telecommunications leasing.
Mr. Wasserman received his B.A. from the University of Rochester with a double major in
Economics and Political Science and received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings
College of the Law. He is a member of the State Bars of California and Colorado.
